Tomato Sauce
Do you always buy your tomato sauce at the store because it is too much trouble to make? Try this super easy, chemical free recipe for a healthy and delicious tomato sauce you feel good about eating.
*Tip… I make a big batch and freeze into serving sized containers for easy meal prep!
Tomato Sauce
10 large tomatoes
2 onions
6 cloves of garlic
1 tbs. Salt
1 tbs. Pepper
1 tbs. Oregano
1/8 cup olive oil
1 handful of basil
1 handful parsley
Dices up onion and garlic. Place a big pot on the stove and allow it to heat up for a minute or two. Pre-heating your pot helps to keep food from sticking. When the pot is hot add olive oil and allow to heat to minute or two. Add onions and garlic and allow to cook until translucent on low. Meanwhile, cut tomatoes into quarters. When the onions and garlic are translucent add tomatoes to the pot. Place lid on the pot and allow to cook on low for 15 minutes; stirring occasionally so that the tomatoes do not burn. When the tomatoes are soft enough to smash with a spoon add basil, parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano and allow to simmer on low for another 10-20 minutes. If you like your tomato sauce chunky you’re done! If you like your sauce smooth, allow liquid to cool, then place in a blender or food processor.
